Unfortunately my wardrobe is not big enough to contain summer and winter clothes at the same time. Since I packed away my dream of the walk in closet, until I receive a lottery jackpot, I have no other chance to change everything. Pack away winter things and get the summer stuff out of the boxes. What is there to be aware of when you change the wardrobe? I thought about it and put together a list:

1. Most loved pieces stay in the wardrobe – throughout the seasons. Since Murphy’s Law strikes you whenever you are in a hurry and need “the piece”, you will never find it in one of the boxes, somewhere in a dark corner.

2. Wash/clean everything before you pack it away. Also shoes should be cleaned and taken care of, before they go to winter sleep.

3. Use moth pad or paper to fight against the bugs that could potentially eat up your lovely pieces. I prefer small sachets of lavender or cedar wood, smells good, works too and is natural.

4. Extra storage: Boxes! – Available at the trustful Swede. Flat boxes go underneath the bed. High boxes go on top of the wardrobe or to the attic. Shoes you store best in own boxes, boots should be stuffed with paper.

5. Good pieces, that need to hang, should be stored in a suit bag.

6. Good bye or „see you next season“? Ask yourself this question with every piece you take out of your wardrobe. It’s worth it. Get rid of pieces you did not wear for a long time, especially from the things you are already embarrassed by.

7. Get the base for the summer – also the wardrobe needs a small spring-cleaning, before the summer pieces move in.

8. Organize the wardrobe when you put the things back in. Sort by the kind of clothes, then by color – hang the pieces or put them on small piles.

That’s it for the wardrobe. Same applies for accessories (bags, scarfs, jewelry, etc.). Good that I only have one bag…well.
