MQ Summer of Fashion Catwalk (c) PPAG

An important appointment for all Vienna fashion fans:

MQ Summer of Fashion from 14.06. to 16.09. in the museums quarter of Vienna.

From Fashionshows, over designer presentations to exhibitions in the museums, and a fashionblogger-flea market, everything is taking place at museum quarter. The final highlight is the MQ VIENNA FASHION WEEK, from 12. to 16. September.

Should I book again the next flight to Vienna? When exactly? Or should I move into MQ? Well…

Art Nouveau

An wonderful piece from my Vienna trip is the bracelet from Pitour, from the Combinat, a very nice store in the museum quarter of Vienna. Handmade out of soft caoutchouc it is very light and soft and fits perfect. The ornament reminds me of art nouveau artists of the beginning 20th century. Combinat is a great tip for Vienna visitors with an interest in fashion, the store offers local designers from Vienna: Pitour, Artista, km/a, Aquanauta und L. Muard.

Versace Cruise Collection for H&M – LLGF report of the presentation

Versace Cruise Collection for H&M

Versace Cruise Collection for H&M

Exciting! Our first invitation and Tori found it very nice. She was there for us at the Versace Collection Cruise presentation and could see the complete collection before the start of sales. In a small, exclusive setting, the second collaboration between Versace and H&M was presented in Berlin today. Tori dived into the world of Versace and knows following to report.

Versace, a house that is known for its excessive use of color and pattern, has also grab once more in his bag of tricks for the Cruise Collection.

A favorite of Donatella is the meander pattern. It will be reflected in the women’s and men’s line. The women wear it in gold for example on white trousers embroidered on the side seam, the men as large print on plain colored T-shirts or as a small embroidery on the white shirt. The men’s line comes in intense, mostly dark colors, dominated by royal blue, light brown, black and white as well.

With the ladies it’s going on fruity. Some of the pieces are large-print pattern. You can not nibble from it, but as long as the men find us scrumptious, there can be no objection to a bit pattern on the coat rack. The print simply exudes a summery flavor and is great for the next holiday.

Also an old friend is present: the pleat. Learned to love last year, also Versace has not resigned it for the Cruise Collection.

Even the processing of the pieces could convince Tori. Tops were working with hardly any visible seams, partly concealed plackets and stitching were used. Even the shoes of the collection are well made. Lightweight outerwear from falling soft materials, thin, shimmering cotton, silk and silk-cashmere, gold – the luxury is not neglected. And for those who are enjoying the vacation – the pants have elastane content, so it expands with a bit.

We anticipated one of our summer trends – the pastel shades of pink to lavender, mixed with white highlights  by Versace for H&M. Also the printed materials exist in different color variations.

Everything is rounded off with some nice accessories that address the Gold-/Mäander-Issue and a butterfly motif: chains, earrings, bracelets, weekenders, white and printed paint ballerinas and everything you need for the beach visit.

The first piece of holiday was on the way home  – Tori is extremely pleased about the charm bracelet with a butterfly from the Versace Cruise Collection for H&M. Now she dreams of their next holiday and, like the rest of the team LLGF, sit with draw finger on the mouse in front of the H&M online shop at 19.01. and grab the next favorite piece for the big trip around the world.

This time there are no long waiting lines in front of the stores, the collections will be available exclusively online. First pictures show an airy and feminine design. The collection also includes pieces for men, classic pieces made out of cotton and denim.

H&M invited us to the cruise collection presentation in Berlin. Tori is going to find out how good this collection is, if the pieces are wearable or not and which pieces are especially nice. We are really excited! Next week we publish a detailed report about it.

Exhibition tipp: Walter van Beirendonck

Walterman - Design: Paul Boudens

Walterman - Design: Paul Boudens

Media overload. Colour explosion. Strange species I have never seen before. The world is turning. This is how it feels when you are in the head of Waler van Beirendonck, no wait – that’s how it is when you enter his exhibition. End of last year I went to Antwerp to see van Beirendoncks exhibition. 1980 van Beirendonck graduated from the Royal Academy of fine Arts in Antwerp. 1986 he presented with five other designers from Antwerp his collection at Londons fashion fair, the birth of the „Antwerp Six“. The fashion museum of Antwerp – MoMu – shows a retrospective of his work.

Aside of designing his own collections, he designed also for other brands. One oft he more famous collaborations was with Mustang, for whom he designed the Wild & Lethal Trash (W.& L.T.) line. W. & L.T. was THE brand for a whole generation of techno and rave fans. With his realy unique aesthetic, he combines influences from technology, high-tech materials and the most diverse cultural influences, never missing to make a statement to current social or cultural developments.

The exhibition shows objects from his several collections, video-installations as well as the costumes he did vof the U2 Popmart-Tour. Impressive were the over dimensioned Godzilla feet he designed for Bono..

Especialy for this exhibition he made the following – meet Walter’s Wild Knights

It was fascinating to get an impression of his way to work. Walter’s Wonder Wall shows on 60 meter a large collage out of pictures, slogans, videos and objects, that influenced and inspired his work. The wall also includes several videos of his shows. The structure of the wall follows van Beirendoncks workbooks, which he does in preparation for his collections. You should not miss his studio, it’s build up in the museum too and shows his toy collection. The exhibition is incredible. Worth a visit!

Labelwatch: Spratters & Jayne

The young designer Rachael Warner created especially for the long and cold winter days, exceptional and quality scarves. The scarves are from 100% Peruvian Highland wool and are hand made. The current collection includes simple but extravagant looks, but that have a price. Between $ 130 and $ 200 cost the pieces already. Here it goes to Spratters & Jayne.

Labelwatch: UGG Australia

From time to time i find shoes from the label UGG Australia. The label became famous due to his typical ”UGGBoots”, which consist of suede outside and of fur inside. Because of the great features of the fur the feet stay warm even without socks. I think you know this typical dressless Modelphotos in the snow, where only thick fur boots were attract. The current collection does not consist only of fur boots and it makes fun to shopping. I once had to fit a couple of my favorites, together for the cold days:

Labelwatch: BRICS

The new Danish label named BRICS shows that simple is simply better. The three girls Elise Born, Ingrid Munch and Stephanie Gundelach show your pieces in clean lines, simple structures and bring the needed individuality. The name BRICS comes from the french word “Bricolage” and the core meaning in French being, “fiddle, tinker” and, by extension, “to make creative and resourceful use of whatever materials are at hand.

They only have coats in the shop so far but I’m sure there’s more coming, because in my opinion they meet the bull’s eye with the coats. The prices vary between 200 € and 300 €. A glance at the shop is always worthwhile. Incidentally, the three also run a fashion blog :).
